While exploring a rare nebula, a mysterious energy being makes is way on board the Enterprise and materializes in the form of a young girl's imaginary friend. Though the ship experiences strange power fluctuations, Picard agrees to remain in the nebula to conduct further experiments. Meanwhile, Clara (Noley Thornton) and her imaginary friend, Isabella (Shay Astar), begin to explore the ship, including sections which are off-limits to children.
